Grades explained

How hard is it?

Grades are a guide — altitude makes everything feel harder. Ask us if you're unsure.

Grade

Easy

Four to five hours of walking a day on clear trails, with modest climbs. Good for first-time trekkers with reasonable fitness.

Grade

Moderate

Five to seven hours a day with steady climbs and at least one high pass. Some previous hiking experience helps.

Grade

Challenging

Long days, glaciers, river crossings or extreme cold. For experienced trekkers who train beforehand.
